Is there any way to improve the signal strength of my wireless computer antenna?

It appears that I’m in a dead spot in my dorm and can only get 1-2 bars. There really aren’t a lot of places to move my desk and computer due to limited floor space. I was wondering if there was a way to strengthen the signal or creatively make the antenna longer.
